The Old Garden, Meols

Created from Lord Stanley’s old hunting lodge, the Old Garden is a new purpose-built, luxury nursing home on Meols Drive in Hoylake. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area with parts of it built in the 1700s. Our client needed a large car park which would also accommodate disabled and medical parking.

“A completely professional outfit that will go that bit further in order to do the best job possible.” – Miles Cockram

The Old Garden, Meols

When we arrived on the project, the stone foundation had already been laid and compacted. The stone did require an element of fine tuning so we supplied some additional Type 1 MOT stone to remove high spots and fill in the low areas. This was laid to string lines and checked with laser levels before we compacted the surface again with heavy duty rollers and compaction plates.

Once the foundation was correct, we laid two layers of asphalt. The first layer was a dense binder course which was laid at 70mm and designed for strength and durability. The second and final layer was an SMA wearing course; a hardwearing surface which can withstand heavy duty cars and vans.
